The ban was the culmination of an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the Cameroonians refusing to play a friendly match against Algeria away on November 15.
Assistant captain Eyong Enow and Tottenham defender Benoit Asso'o Ekotto were also found guilty of having been responsible for the failed encounter.
Enow will miss four matches while Ekotto will be out for three matches.
Both Enow and Ekotto did not attend the commission hearings and were not represented.
Eto'o had announced after attending the hearings that he would respect any decision taken by the FECAFOOT commission, which was presided over by Sali Dahirou.
