Candidate Malomba Esembe speaking at Interfaith Service |
By Christopher Ambe
Despite popular forecast that 34-year old Magistrate Malomba Esembe will be overwhelmingly elected, come February 9, as the new MP for Buea Urban, the candidate has submitted his will to that of the Almighty God for endorsement for victory.
As a pious Presbyterian,
we gathered, Malomba who is married and a father of three, strongly adheres to
the Biblical principle in Mathew 6: 33, which reads:“…seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
At an
interfaith service, last Sunday evening, at the PCC Synod Office hall, Buea over ten clergy
men drawn from the Roman Catholic Church, Cameroon Baptist
Convention, the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon(PCC), Pentecostal Church and
the Muslim Faith interceded on Malomba’s behalf for God
to validate the candidate’s
victory.
The assembly, holding
under the theme “ Prayer Dinner and Benefaction Get-together for Malomba Esembe
,Candidate for National Assembly Buea Urban constituency”, was attended by many
admirers of the youthful candidate, among them a host of dignitaries that included Franklin
Ngoni Njie ,General manager of Cameroon Development Corporation(CDC); Prof
Ernest Molua, Registrar of University of Buea; Hon Meoto Paul Njie, former
Director of Cabinet at the PM’s Office,Yaounde.
The
officiating ministers of God included Presbyterians-Rev. Mokoko Mbue
Thomas,PCC National Communication Secretary ;Rev. Dr. Njie David King,Rev. Ayonghe
N, Isaac and Rev. Nta William Nche ;there was Baptist
Pastor, Rev Njobara Nelson Nkibo. Roman
Catholic Priests were Fr. Stephen Nnadi and Fr.Polycarp Ojingwa. Pentecostal Pastors included Rev.Eta Benson (United
Pentecostal Church,Buea),Rev John Numbe Nwafor(Reconciliation Ministries
Worldwide),Pastor Takem David Arrey( Garden of Life Ministries,Buea). The
Muslim Faith was represented by Alhadji Mohammed Aboubakar, Imam of Buea.
The
clergy said various prayers asking God to bless Malomba’s with an outstanding victory
at the polls. Meditating on the theme “COMMIT TO THE LORD WHATEVER YOU DO”-(Proverbs 16:3), Rev. Mokoko Mbue Thomas said people are free to have plans but it is God who has the ability, possibility and power to establish them.
He expressed happiness
that the candidate decided to commit his ambition to God, adding that he has
known Malomba as a caring, disciplined, res
ponsible and God-fearing person.
Rev. Mokoko pointed
out that “we are not here for any political party but for Malomba”, who is an
elder of the Presbyterian Church.
He predicted that Malomba‘s
plans would be established. “You have what it takes to sanitize the political
arena”, Rev Mokoko said, to cheers.
One of chairs of the joint ceremony, Franklin
Ngoni Njie, General Manager of Cameroon Development Corporation, told Malomba
to be cautious of the many proposals being dangled to him, noting that some of them
may take him off-track.
He commended the candidate’s campaign slogan
of “Love and Service.”
The General Manager appealed
for massive support for Malomba.
“Even when the results of the election will
have come proclaiming him winner, we shall still need to support him,” said
Ngoni Njie.
Other speakers
who spoke favorably about Malomba included Prof. Ernest Molua;
Rose Esembe, mother of the candidate; Barrister Ndolo Ekane; Enanga Georgina
Sanga,alternate parliamentary candidate
for Buea Urban.
In his response, a
beaming Malomba was thankful to all his supporters and pledged his readiness
to be at the service of public.
The successful organization of the interfaith service and prayer dinner was partly thanks to the input of Madam Rebecca Limunga Effoe, former Director of IVTC Buea- and said to be a quiet CPDM strategist.

Even though Malomba’s
residence was burgled three days before the official launch of campaigns for
the February 9 municipal and parliamentary elections , and his money and other property
carted away, he looked determined to continue with what observers have
described as his hope-giving and attention-catching campaign within the
constituency.
Two political parties –the ruling CPDM and the opposition SDF- are competing for the Buea Urban Parliamentary seat, which for more than 20 years has been occupied by the CPDM.
